Inside the Dome...

Well today we finally did the tour of the capitol! It was less busy this Saturday then last Saturday being that it had been memorial day weekend :) We went on a tour of the capitol and I didn't get too many pictures because the camera died {Larry had his trusty phone though}. It is a beautiful tour starting out with a video and then onward into the dome. It is breathtaking the paintings that are painted around the dome and the tour guides know their stuff.

Each state has 2 different statues of people that are well known in the particular state. There is also certain statues that congress has commissioned to always be in the capitol. On this particular day we went President Ronald Reagan's statue from California had just been put in the capitol. You really don't get to see too much but its pretty cool just to be in there. The crypt is creepy and once was thought to be where they should bury dead presidents thank goodness that was changed

After we went and visited the Library of Congress. There actually is a fancy one that everyone always goes in and then on the side another fully functioning Library. Larry and his friends went and got a library card the other day they thought it was pretty cool. The building is the most elaborate building I have ever seen with great stone detail and it connects to the capitol underground. There is a ton of different exhibits and Thomas Jefferson's personally library was on showcase.

When we were heading home out of the Library I swear we saw the Obama Girls. There was this big black SUV with secret service agent looking guys escorting two little black girls into the car...I swear it was a sighting of them and I was freaking out haha. It is legit over here in the district people!

It was a fun day full of new things to see. We actually didn't get to go into the supreme court. I know there is a small tour but its pretty minimal because it is a working court so you really can't have people coming in and out. I did learn though that there is a basketball court on the second level of the building where justices will play which is hilariously funny to me. Notice my sweet representation of Georgetown University? I love that I look like a local:)
