Virginia or Bust

We are leaving on a jet plane. We have packed up our campus apartment, my job at the bookstore is being held for me for the fall, and we are driving to California to spend the week with my parents before leaving for Virgina.

We packed everything into a storage unit and our heading down to Provo so Larry can attend his last LSAT-prep class and then we are gone...dedicated to killing the LSAT I think so!

Funny how all your possessions can just be packed away and put into a tiny 10x10 space and you can say goodbye to them...even your car which we are leaving at my parents house for safe keeping. I am freaking out about this...really we are moving across the country, we have no place to live, no way to get around, and no money. I hope it is worth it!

Moab: The land of red rocks.

Larry has been studying hard for the LSAT coming up at the end of the year...yup he is already studying! He is taking a class 2 times a week at BYU. Its been pretty fun to go eat dinner and stay with my grandpa while Larry is on campus. My mom came up with 2 of my brothers for their spring break and after Larry was done with class we headed to Moab for just a short weekend trip. It was a lot of fun. My brothers friends tagged along and like usual I was the only girl besides my mom.

We had a lot of fun climbing rocks all day. The boys got pretty adventures and I was surprised no one died or even broke a bone. Seriously my husband is just a daredevil making trails where they really was none and daring he other guys to try it out.

Funny thing is this was the farthest east I had ever been in my life...lame right? But not anymore because Larry got the call that he got the internship in Virgina this summer as we were driving around the canyon....Crazy!! We are moving to Arlington Virgina in one month and will be living there all summer!

Accepted!

I got into the Nursing Program!!!

I got home from work around 1 am and there was a bunch of couples in our apartment parking lot. We live on campus so its usually busy at random hours but not this random. My neibor and one of my best friend Jade is the RA over all the buildings was hanging around...a water pipe had broke so everyone was busy cleaning it up. Larry decided to got get the mail and he then handed me this tiny envelope.

I gulped...it was tiny like the tiny letter I got when I was rejected from BYU...dread flooded over me. I didn't want to open it so Larry did it for me.

I got in!!! 1000 applicants and 90 acceptances and I am one of them!

My parents come to visit:

My parents came to see where we lived. It was fun taking them all over campus, showing them the bookstore, the different buildings we are always in and the campus apartment we are living in. Our apartment is funky it is an old dorm that use to house 6 girls we have a long hall with three rooms and a kitchen...we love it because we can walk to school and don't have to worry about parking.

My parents also took us grocery shopping and my dad really stocked us up! I think he enjoyed looking at all the things a super Wal-mart has to offer. Thanks mom and dad!

Our story:

Happy Valentines Day!

{Picture taken last year winter 2008}

Larry and I met in the singles ward in El Dorado Hills California. He was 23 and I was 19. He was trying to figure out what to do with his life and so was I. I had just graduated from high school and was getting ready to go back to BYU for the winter semester when I met Larry. He was funny, nice, complementary, and pretty good looking when he got all cleaned up. We spent a lot of time together listening to music and just talking. I wasn't sure really if we were dating but when the time came for my to move back to Provo I couldn't commit to moving. Once that happened we really started dating and in a matter of weeks it went from I want to get married to when are we getting married conversations.

We took a trip to Utah over conference weekend so I could meet his parents and a week later we got engaged in his sister Carlene's backyard. We were married 5 months later in the Oakland California temple. Our engagement was a stressful time in the short while we had known each other. My parents were not thrilled by my choices of forgoing BYU to get married...and I was so young. There was a lot of tears and hurtful memories around our wedding that I don't want to really remember. I planned everything by myself and Larry's mom made my wedding dress.

It was a simple wedding really and a beautiful simple reception at the Martin house in El Dorado Hills. We got married on a Thursday, spent one night in San Fransisco, had our reception on Friday and went back to school on Monday. We never got a long honeymoon and from that point on it was school school school! We lived in El Dorado hills for 4 more months before moving to Ogden Utah and attending Weber State University where we live currently.

I am so grateful I met Larry and made the choice to marry him. He calms me down, puts up with our tantrums and is my best friend.
