Lorell turns 100

Larry's grandma turned 100 and we took a super quick trip to utah. I didn't even document the trip because it was just Larry and I and it was blissful! We stayed in a hotel and slept all night and ate at all our favorite spots we miss in Utah and we shopped a lot for new baby girl!! We flew in Friday and flew out Monday morning so it was super quick but worth it. We have never left the boys for that long so I left them each a gift to open each day when my mom thought they needed it and we didn't contact them it would make them upset. Really it is easy to leave them in some ways because its their house and their use to my mom anyways but It takes a lot for me to leave them. I also didn't want to drag them to a boring party for their great grandma who they never met and who they will never remember. It might be cold hearted of me but I hate placing my children in positions like an adult party and then get mad at them for acting like kids...so it was perfect to leave them and it was SO nice to get away! I did get this shot of us with Lorell. Our baby will be her 106th great grandchild. She still has a great memory but sits. It was nice to see some of Larry's siblings and all our friends in provo. We haven't been back to utah in 3 years so it was nice to see our old stomping grounds!

General Conference Weekend.

When the first weekend of October rolls around millions of LDS members gather to watch Conference over a 2 day period. This might be my favorite thing our church does twice a year. I love General Conference! It renews my faith and makes me feel like I have the capability to continue on and be a better person! It always makes me feel like I am doing things right but I can always aspire and reach to be a better wife, mother, and sister within the church.

I feel so united with other members of the church, and always am flooded with emotions about how grateful I am to me a member and to know the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel am overwhelming love for the the Prophet, and the general authorities, and I love how organized and set up our church is. I am just one member of the church, but when I watch and listen to conference talks I feel special, and loved. I know that I am a daughter of God and that I have a loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ who know me, and want me to have a happy life, as well as serve others and bring them into the faith.

I hope that everyone that watched General Conference this weekend felt the love and the spirit in your home. I know for me, it always helps me to hear that I can do better. I know even with my little kids running around, and, through the loudness and busyness of our home the spirt was stronger this weekend and will reside in our home for a long time.

Happy 4th!

We had a super fun day hanging out in Provo. Dang I miss this place and everything great about Utah...I keep throwing a small pity party that we no longer live here. But alas we move on right?? and I still have my Utah license and number so that is a small constellation.

Anyways we had a fun day hitting the mall, going to Cafe Rio {free meal!} and then hanging around my grandpas house. Larry put on an awesome fireworks show...well as good as 30 bucks can get you and then we sat outside watching the rest of the Grandview neighborhood doing it as well. In Utah style it rained in the evening for while and then dried up...such silly weather maybe that's why we no longer live here?? Tomorrow is C-day meaning camp day, the day I have been dreading for awhile...camping with a one year old kinda a nuts idea I think. Before that though I get to hit the bookstore and DI haha the wonderful things I miss about this great state!

Happy 4th of July! Remember how great it is to be an American?? Its pretty great, despite recent times it truly is the best, safest, freest, country to live in.

Utah Or Bust

Well we made it to Utah...did I mention we were going to Utah? Well we did and we made it in one piece. We drove in a 15 passenger van with a trailer attached {pictures to come} with 11 people, 2 which were babies. It was intense. 13 hours later we arrived in once piece feeling very frazzled. We are so excited to be here for the week. As we drove into the Salt Lake Valley I got pretty emotional and really couldn't believe I was feeling this way. Utah is the longest place Larry and I have lived together as a married couple so far and seeing the city made me really miss all our memories here. It was weird but it felt like I was coming home...crazy I know. I was pretty surprised how much I have missed this place and I think Larry was surprised how emotional I was. We will be camping and hanging out with my grandpa for the rest of the week and I am getting excited to eat some Cafe Rio and hit up my favorite stores!

Dear Utah:

Dear Utah: I MISS YOU, Please convince Larry We should move back.

Larry made it through 2 weeks of law school! I haven't adjusted as well either has Max. We are heading to EDH tomorrow for Johnny Martins Baptism and to bless Max. I am then staying 2 extra weeks to get some help from my mom and get away from Larry...Haha that sounds bad. He needs us to leave so he won't feel so guilty leaving us in a hot apartment all day long so he can stay at the school and study 10 plus hours so this way he can get ahead and hopefully once me and Max get back some fall weather will be starting so we can be more happy..Plus my parents are officially empty nesters well for at least a year till John gets back from his mission but they are lonely so we will entertain them. I'm very excited about this arrangement.

We are watching the Utah football game right now and I was about in tears when I saw the mountains...I miss my life there and want to go back very bad, I feel like my entire life is still there.. my friends, my job, and my school. I know I cried about the snow but really it was a perfect place for us to live these last years. We made lifelong friends and I felt safe and normal there especially when your baby is screaming bloody murder in the grocery store, no one gives you evil looks they just smile because most likely its happened to them. Also you know your never the only LDS person in the room...its a nice feeling.

At the moment the one word to describe my life is Sacrifice... I'm praying it all pays off in the end :)

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day Weekend!

HOME!

I am going home in exactly 7 days!! I know that Utah is where I live, and that me and Larry are building our home together here but El Dorado Hills has always been my home for 20 years and I look forward to going back almost everyday all year round. I love where I grew up and was blessed to have tons of friends and have the gospel strong in our community. I love the hills and the Target down the street, and the one in Folsom I worked in, and I love the restaurants and my parents house, and the smell, and the familiar roads with names and not dumb grid system numbers.

I love sitting on the couch and watching movies with my family and seeing friends families that I look forward to seeing each year, and the SHOPPING. Sorry Utah you just can't beat my beautiful mostly sunny California. I can't wait!!!

Reasons why I want to stay in Utah...
1. It is close to California
2. It has an In-& Out
3. It is beautiful in the fall
4. There is temples everywhere
5. Young families trying to get through school
6. 24 hour Wal-Mart
7. In state tuition$$
8. Great hospitals
9. I love that my entire block is in my ward basically
10. Moving to Salt Lake would be so easy!
11. Finishing nursing school
12. Salt Lake is a fun city
13. Family close by
14. Fun crafty stores
15. Church distribution stores everywhere
16. BYU football
17. Modest dresses can be found and bought in malls!!

There are many reasons why I love Utah, yes i LOVE California, but its expensive and full of democrats but I do love El Dorado Hills but despite the freezing cold by polar snow weather of Utah, this crazy state has been a good fit for Larry and me, and I am still holding, praying, and digging my nails in that we get the opportunity to stay here for law school...only time will tell but lets hope the law school gods smile down on us and grant me my wish :)

side note: I did hate the state passionately when we moved here but it has grown on me, maybe its just change and moving for the 9million time but who knows.

Jazzy Jazz

Any one else excited for Jazz season to begin? So I'm not like a basketball pro all knowing girl, but I do like watching it with Larry, he might hate me watching it with him, but hey its some quality time. Hurray for the season to begin! Also, big announcements in the future, look out!

The Smell of Winter

In Utah there is a smell of fall..its crisp air and hay and I dunno what else but its wonderful and its great to step outside, take a deep breath and breath in the fall Utah air...ahh I love it. There is also a smell of Winter...a year ago I would say its the smell of death as the threat of endless snow is on its way...now though not so much. While I don't love the snow its great for about a month and then I am done but its a nice cold smell filled with the anticipation of the coming first snow fall.

Until that day comes look at the tree outside my house. This is in the backyard facing the school on the other side. it hasn't hit me fully that we will be moving and that this could be our last year in Utah...its mixed emotions of excitement and sadness, its hard to explain I guess if you haven't experienced the anticipation and constant change in your life. Anyways look at those colors...its amazing and so wonderful about Utah. I figured I better get a snap shot before winter comes and destroys the colors of fall.

Officialy back in Utah!

We are BACK! we are officially back in O-Town. Larry got back from his lovely 36 hour drive with his intern buddy Jake and we quickly moved from house to house until we got into our NEW house...well basement apartment and we love it! This is our 5th place we have lived in 2 years, we are nuts and move a lot but i think its maybe my favorite place so far. It is RIGHT next to the school and we have a doorbell and a garage and the best part a laundry room! but we don't have washer and dryers yet(those are coming) Anyway we are so happy to be back in UTAH where there is Cafe Rio and awesome Mountains where you never get lost and people are friendly.

Last update: We started school which was overwhelming and excited as well. Larry is officially graduated April 23rd and taking the LSAT on Sept. 26 so he is studying his little butt off to get an amazing score which he will! I started nursing school with mixed emotions its a lot of hard work and hours of studying but I am trying to take it an hour at a time :) my OB rotation starts soon which is fun and excited and gross. Anyways that is whats new with us, life is great and we are blessed!

here is some pictures of our new place :) You will get the 70's vibe :)
Our family room, dinning room, kitchen and the bed room {where the magic happens} we love this little apartment its really perfect for us. Its RIGHT next to the school like I said and just the opposite side as last year and we are renting from a women I work with at the bookstore.
We also have a awesome desk Larry built as well as a laundry room and bathroom but those dont really need to be posted on the blog. Its going to be an awesome stressful year!

Welcome 2009.

Happy New Year! We made it back to Utah! It was a long drive over the snowy mountains and I think we almost died a couple of times...but we made it alive! John came with us to visit before he starts back to school. I already miss my family and the warmer climate. Here is what it looks like from our windows from our apartment on campus. Keep warm!

Its like 10 Degrees Outside

Yeah Its Freezing. Did you know that Utah has not seen this much snowfall in like 10 years? Just so happens the winter I move to Utah it decides to be a freakishly snowy winter. Oh joy for me!
